Featured Partnerships

Here we have highlighted a few of the CCCC’s current sponsors. Some are from family members and friends in honor loved ones. Some are gifts that have been made by organizations or businesses with a commitment to supporting our community. If you are interested in learning more about how you can partner with the CCCC to honor a loved one or to strengthen our community, please email development@calfeeccc.org.

Tribute to Mike Hutchens

The CCCC’s Broadneaux-Baker Hall will be sponsored in memory of Mike Hutchens. Betsy Hutchens Sanford and Jerry Hutchens made this generous gift in their brother’s honor because it will create opportunities for Pulaski County residents of all ages to foster a love of music and, therefore, to allow Mike’s spirit to live on in his hometown. Read more about Mike here.

Honoring James Smith (Calfee Training School Alumnus)

James Smith has served as the janitor at the First United Methodist Church in Pulaski for nearly 50 years. The FUMC decided to honor James by sponsoring the Nettie G. Anderson classroom in the future Harmon Learning Center in his name.

Sponsors and Partners

Corporate Sponsorships:

Your company or organization can do great things for the community and expand your visibility at the same time. Sponsorships offer public recognition of your connection with the Calfee Community and Cultural Center and our mission to make Pulaski stronger.  By sponsoring Calfee, your business may attract new customers and bolster your company’s reputation.

Calfee has many opportunities for corporate sponsorships ranging in size to meet your philanthropic goals. From newsletter sponsorship to benches or picnic tables to gazebos and classrooms. Corporate sponsorships have different benefits, such as logos posted on our website or newsletter, plaque dedication, and more.

Example of types of Corporate Sponsorships:

Newsletter- Your sponsorship can help cover the immediate price of printing and sending newsletters for Calfee stakeholders that do not have internet access. We also send newsletters to our stakeholders and print out for various churches and organizations. Your logo would be shared on the newsletter as a proud sponsor.

Event Sponsor- Advertise your company as a supporter of a community event. Each event has sponsorship levels.

Physical items: As Calfee Community Center is renovating the inside and outside of the historic school, we have physical items such as benches, picnic tables, trees, and more that a plaque with your name or logo can be displayed.

Spaces and Exhibits: Our largest corporate sponsorships are spaces and exhibits throughout the Calfee Community and Cultural Center. We have classrooms honoring past teachers, our kitchen, and our museum that can be sponsored by your company.

Please email Development@CalfeeCCC.org to receive our sponsorship guide or learn more about these options or download our sponsorship guide.

Program Sponsorship:

As Calfee Community and Cultural Center gets closer to opening, businesses will be able to sponsor programs that provide services to the New River Valley.  Programs include childcare employee benefits, music and entertainment, art programs, children’s camps, field trips to the museum, and more.

If you have an idea about a program that you would like to sponsor for the community or would like more information on the above programming, please contact us at Development@CalfeeCCC.org to learn how your business, of any size, can become a sponsor.

Honors and Tributes:

Making a donation in honor or in memory of a friend or loved one is a meaningful way of helping the CCCC in our quest to revitalize the history of the Calfee Training School. Your tribute gift is a compassionate gesture that will make a difference in our community.

If you would like to make an online donation in tribute, you can enter their name at the bottom of our donation page. If you would like to have a group tribute, where individuals donate together, such as in memory in lieu of gifts, individuals can use the same donation form. If you would like to be notified of tributes in honor of a loved one, please email us at Development@CalfeeCCC.org. Tributes are a beautiful way to remember a loved one in lieu of flowers.

Another long lasting and public tribute to a loved one is a sponsorship. We have sponsorships of items and spaces at numerous financial levels, including benches, tables, and classrooms.  We will add a plaque honoring your loved one for all visitors to Calfee to see. We are also here to listen to your ideas to honor your loved one. Please email us at Development@CalfeeCCC.org to learn more about this option.

Matching Gifts:

Do you know if you employer offers matching gifts or are you an employer wanting to set up a matching gift program? Making a matching gift through your employer doubles your impact!

A matching gift doubles the participation, doubles the benefit, and spreads the positive message that you can make a significant and lasting impact in our community.

Email us at Development@CalfeeCCC.org to find out more.

Group Fundraisers:

Would you like to organize a group fundraising event, such as running in marathon or penny drives, that benefits the Calfee Community and Cultural Center?  Email us at Development@CalfeeCCC.org to discuss ideas.  We can set up a donation page directly for you or brainstorm ideas that fit your style.

Estate Giving/ Planned Giving:

Planned giving is a wonderful way to make a larger, lasting contribution to a cause you care about. When you include the Calfee Community and Cultural Center in your estate plans, you are ensuring our shared values of inclusivity, equality, collaboration, and community continue on beyond our lives.  A gift through your will makes a positive impact on the Pulaski community and especially in our children’s lives—even beyond your own. Planned giving provides you the opportunity to combine your philanthropic desires with your financial needs. Your estate doesn’t have to be large to make a difference. Not only does Planned Giving represent the opportunity to provide long term support to an organization, but it also gives donors a chance to establish a legacy. This philanthropic gesture can be a great way to leave a memory of life.

Estate / Planned giving opportunities include:

  • A bequest to the CCCC through a will or trust.

    • Bequests are easy and simple to create, even if you already have a will. At your request, your attorney can include the necessary language in your will, add a codicil to your will, or help you establish a revocable living trust.

  • Life insurance that names the CCCC as a beneficiary.

    • Whether you donate an existing policy or take out a new policy with CCCC as the beneficiary, you can make a meaningful gift to CCCC and receive tax benefits.

  • Naming CCCC as a beneficiary of a retirement plan or IRA.

    • IRAs are often taxed significantly when distributed at the end of your lifetime. An easy way to donate to CCCC, with tax advantages to your estate, is to name CCCC as a beneficiary of a portion or all of a qualified retirement plan. A charitable gift of an IRA or qualified retirement plan lets you reduce estate and income taxes while supporting CCCC and its mission.

    • If you are over 70.5 years of age, you can make a tax-free donation directly from your IRA today.

  • Making a life gift for a fund at the Community Foundation of the NRV in the name of the CCCC.

  • An estate gift that deeds a residence or property to the CCCC while retaining your full rights to live on the property for life.

Benefits of Planning Giving include:

  • Planned Giving represents the opportunity to leave a major gift that may not have been possible in their lifetime due to financial constraints.

  • Charitable Gifts are often exempt from Estate Tax, meaning more of the gift would go directly to the organization.

  • Donors can avoid capital gains taxes when they transfer assets as part of a Planned Gift -maximizing the contribution to charity.

Planned Giving typically starts during the Estate Planning process. Most major gifts are organized with the help of an attorney or financial advisor; this is because there are various legal and tax strategies available that can maximize the impact of the gift. The Calfee Community and Cultural is here to help and can work with you to determine a gift that makes sense for you and your family.
